il Vecchio is poised to debut their hotly anticipated lunch service on Monday, January 21.

il Vecchio_Lunch flyerThe lunch concept is a simple, no-frills Pranzo di Lavoro—lunch for the workers. Lunch service takes a cue from the popular Family Dinner on Tuesdays. The menu is chef’s choice and will include a green salad and choice of two pasta dishes, all served family style at the table. Vegetarian options will be available, but alas, the restaurant cannot accommodate vegan or gluten-free diners for lunch.

The menu will change day to day—polenta on Tuesdays, seafood spaghetti on Fridays. I’m already eyeing a Monday lunch of penne pasta with Molinari sausage or risotto Milanese on Wednesdays. Check out the full menu below the fold.

At just $9 per person, Pranzo di Lavoro is sure to be popular. And bring along the kids too—children under ten are can join in the fun for just $6.

Pranzo di Lavoro / Worker’s Lunch

Monday through Friday, from 12 noon to 1:30
Fixed price: $9 plus tax, service

Lunch includes a mixed green salad of the day, and BOTH pasta dishes—served at the table, family style. Children under ten are $6. All the pasta is DeCecco imported from Italy.

The following menu will be repeated every week.
Items with an * are vegetarian. No dishes are vegan.

Monday:
penne al boscaiolo – with Molinari sausage, mushrooms, peas, in light cream sauce
spaghetti al pomodoro – house-made tomato sauce with fresh basil, parmesan *

Tuesday:
farfalle al ragu di pollo – butterfly pasta with chicken, onion in tomato sauce
polenta – with three cheeses: mozzarella, parmesan, gorgonzola *

Wednesday:
risotto Milanese – Canaroli rice in house-made chicken stock and mushrooms
spaghetti con pesto – fresh basil, walnuts, garlic, parmesan *

Thursday:
penne contadina – chicken, broccoli, onions in white wine
mezzi rigatoni – short pasta with grilled eggplant, garlic, pecorino *

Friday:
spaghetti con pesce e cozze – rock cod (as available) with mussels, white wine
polenta con verdure – roasted vegetables with tomatoes, pecorino *

Because we serve family style, we are unable to accommodate substitutions or changes.
