Coming soon: Paolo Scavino wine dinner at Restaurant 1833

Later this month, Restaurant 1833 will be hosting a wine dinner highlighting the wines of Paolo Scavino.

In 1921, Paolo Scavino had a vision to only bottle the very best expression of Nebbiolo in the Barolo area. In 1978 Enrico Scavino, Paolo’s son continued this vision by producing single vineyard bottlings. Today Paolo Scavino is a winery synonymous with exceptional quality.

Chef Levi Mezick will prepare a warm winter feast to celebrate the 90th anniversary Paolo Scavino. The festivities take place on Monday, January 21 from 6:00 to 8:30 and will include a four-course tasting menu shaped to enhance the four single vineyard Barolos served en magnum and hosted by special guest Elisa Scavino.

Dinner will cost $85 per person and includes wine pairings. Sure sounds like a steal to me. And there’s duck confit on the menu—my kryptonite! Check out the menu below the fold. Reservations are required. Call 831-643-1833 to snag a seat.

Restaurant 1833 is at 500 Hartnell Street in Monterey. 831-648-1833. www.restaurant1833.com.
