In case you missed it, here is the bargain bite that appeared in my column in the Go! section of the Monterey Herald. I’ll be reposting my reviews and stories from my weekly column for the Herald here on my blog along with extra photos that didn’t appear in print.
Last week, I was reminded of one of the best bargains on the Monterey Peninsula: happy hour at The C Restaurant + Bar. During happy hour — Sunday through Thursday from 4 to 7 — The C offers discounted beer and wine specials.
Small bites — like calamari ($8.50), made-to-order clam chowder ($12.75) or smoked pork loin tonnato ($7.50) — are half-off. But did you know the burger ($15.50) is half-off too?
And this isn’t a “small bite” burger. It’s a sizable patty made with Angus beef, cheddar cheese, tomato and aioli, and served with garlic fries. A burger and a glass of wine cost me about $12 — a steal of a meal!
The C Restaurant + Bar is located at 750 Cannery Row in Monterey. 375-4800. www.thecrestaurant-monterey.com.
