Lots of exciting new things are happening on Alvarado this month. Sure, the impending opening of Pinkberry might be getting most of the buzz, but I’m excited for Caffe Trieste to open tomorrow, September 14.
I had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek inside today, by pure coincidence. The space is charming—old family photos adorn the walls telling the rich history of this San Francisco institution. And there are wooden tables and ample seating for grabbing a cup of coffee.
The coffee is roasted especially for Caffe Trieste, a Bay Area coffee chain based in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood. I tried a cappuccino tonight and it was a good, bold cup of espresso. (Maybe a little too bold—I’m wired and wide awake at 11:00 with no signs of slowing down! Oh the dangers of drinking coffee at 7:00 at night!)
They’ll focus on coffee and pastries for now, but in a couple of weeks look for an expanded menu with breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner of the three P’s of Italian food: panini, pastas and pizza.
